Coconut Cultivation Board provide series of services to coconut growers. Programs may change annually and seasonally to suit grower needs. Main items are given below.
- Advisory and extension services
- Input and material assistances.
- Partial Financial Assistances.
- Necessary credit to develop coconut lands.

| Advisory and Extension Services |
Intension of this service is to have a dialogue with the coconut grower and to enhance his knowledge/skills on coconut cultivation to make his coconut plantation a beneficial asset. To achieve this we the CCB, with experience we have gathered, and new knowledge from research findings of CRI and knowledge from progressive farmers build knowledge base and make these available to interested coconut growers through various means..
Further, we use our network of field level extension officers known as CDO (Coconut Development Officer) stationed at Agricultural Service Centre located one for each Pradeshiya Saba and other available means such as leaflets and media. |

Training Programme
CCB conducts field days, in-service trainings, seminars, work shops on all aspects of coconut cultivation to transfer technology to growers and other related government and non government officers.
Demonstration plots including field demonstration, result demonstrations and method demonstrations and exhibitions are also contributed to transfer the technology.
These training programs are organized mainly by the Coconut Development Training Center located at Lunuwila and Madamulana.

| Input and Material Assistance |
The Coconut Cultivation Board provide assistance to coconut growers under several schemes. These schemes are identified depending on current needs. Programs identified for the current year are as follows.
- Seedling Production Program
- Coconut Planting Program
- Home garden Program
1) Seedling Production Program
CCB provide high quality seedlings to the growers at an affordable price by subsidizing the cost of production. Growers can obtain up to 100 seedlings from any one of the nurseries through a money order or a postal order drawn in favor of the General Manager, CCB. To purchase over 100 seedlings should make an advance payment to the relevant regional office and reserve them.
Supply of high quality seedlings:
Major factor contributing to produce a good quality coconut tree depend on the seedling used. To achieve this CCB produce high quality coconut seedlings in their nurseries. 3 Million seedlings, produced for this year in 34 nurseries to serve the entire country. |

Among these seedlings, there are three varieties.
- CRI 65
- CRI66
- Morok Tall
- Plus Palms
CRI 60
This is a hybrid of Tall X Tall verity. It has wide ecological adoptability with potential productivity up to 100 nuts/palm/Year under good management practices. It is being widely promoted for commercial cultivation particularly in all coconut growing districts in the country.
CRI 65
This is a hybrid of Tall X Draft verity which has been found to be superior to that of the T X T. The productivity of D X T verity is 125 nuts/palm/Year. Although D X T is highly sensitive to soil water deficit during the dry period and is not suitable planting in all coconut growing areas.
Plus Palms
Plus Palm considered as above average palms selected from high yielding blocks from specially maintained estates.
Morok Tall
Plus Palm selections from estates of Kurunagala District
Selected high quality seedlings for new planting and replanting are issued to coconut growers in island wide at a subsidized rate by the CCB. Two forms of seedlings are issued by the CCB.
Price : These seedlings available to growers at the following prices irrespective of the variety.
- Poly bagged seedlings - Rs. 80/=
- Bare-rooted seedlings - Rs. 50/=
Reservation
:
Any interested grower can obtain these seedlings from the head office If any grower wishes to obtain more, he should fill one application, giving details of the estate where he wishes to plant these. This could be done at any regional office/Head office |

2) Coconut Planting Program
Coconut Re/new/under planting program is one of the major activity conduct with an annual target of planting coconut in 20000 acres of land by the CCB in an island wide scale. Growers can register for this program through an application issued by the CCB.
Nearest CDO in the area will guide you to apply for the subsidy. Under the subsidy scheme growers will be provided seedlings and fertilizers and Dolomite free of charge with the recommendation of the CDO. |

3) Home Garden Program
To cater the House hold coconut consumption Home Gardening Program has being initiated from 2003 and continuous up to now. About 1 - 5 seedlings together with 1Kg of Basal fertilizer and 1Kg of Dolomite packet per seedling will be provided to a family free of charge. |

| Partial Financial Assistances |
Partial financial assistances is provided for growers on different aspects to enhance the productivity of their coconut land under the Development projects conducted by the CCB.
Mainly in 2007 three main projects are conducted with partial financial assistances namely Rehabilitation project, Rainwater harvesting projects and Gliricidia cultivation projects.
Under the coconut land rehabilitation project Rs. 6000/= of subsidy payment will be provided per acre of coconut land rehabilitation.
A subsidy of Rs.4000/= per ac. will be provided to a grower to plant Gliricidia as an intercrop in coconut lands.
Under the rain water harvesting project a cash subsidy to a maximum of Rs. 100000/= per tank will be issued based on the volume of earth excavated used for the construction with the recommendation of irrigation engineer.

CCB share a part of necessary expenses related to most of the project / programs conducted annually. |

| Necessary credit to develop coconut lands |
CCB assist growers by providing concessionary credit facilities for all aspects of coconut cultivation through commercial banks as soft loans which is known as ‘Kapruka Ayojana Loan Scheme’
“Kapruka Ayojana Loan Scheme”
“Kapruka Ayojana” Credit Scheme conducted by the Coconut Cultivation board in collaboration with commercial Banks, State Banks and Regional Development Banks.
Under the credit scheme financial assistance, technical guidance and extension services are provided towards realization of higher productivity and steady income by making optimum utilization of available resources in the land in terms of application of Scientific methods and plan management |
