ABOUT US
Coconut Cultivation Board is established under the act number 46 of 1971 by Gazette notification 50 2 dated March, 1972.with the objective of providing necessary guidance and support to the coconut growers spreaded around the country. Mainly coconut growers are encouraged to increase coconut production and to maintain sustainable coconut cultivation with financial and material support. Further high quality and high yielding seedling varieties are also introduced among growers through the regional offices and seedling nurseries.

More over the CCB conduct well organized extension programmes to transfer new technology especially among coconut small holders.
Goals :
  1. To produce 3000 Mn nuts annually and maintain at this level upto year 2010.
  2. To maintain the coconut extent of 1 Mn Acs in the country.

Coconut Cultivation Board is a state organization created to promote growing and upkeep of coconut lands and lands suitable for coconut.

Primsary Objectives:
  • Development and assistance in the development of the productivity of land in coconut Plantations.

  • The cultivation and assistance in and promotion and regulation of the cultivation of land with coconut

  • The identification of land in coconut plantations suitable for inter-planting with other crops (including pasture) and promotion, direction, carrying out and assistance in the carrying out of inter-planting programmes on such land.

  • The promotion and regulation of assistance to and engagement in animal husbandry on land in coconut plantations.

  • The specification, popularization, promotion and direction of proper cultivation practices in respect of the growing of coconut and other crops in coconut plantations.

  • The manufacture and assistance in and promotion and regulation of the manufacture of coconut products.
  • The promotion of new techniques in the processing of coconut products;

  • The promotion and direction of the modernization and assistance in increasing the efficiency, of establishments manufacturing coconut products;

  • The training of advisory and extension workers to assist the coconut industry.

  • The guiding and advising of the coconut industry on all matters of a technical nature.

  • The promotion of co-operative and collective forms of management and ownership of coconut
    plantations and establishments manufacturing or trading in coconut products.

Special Powers of the Coconut Cultivation Board.

    1. Registration of
      1. Coconut plantation and proprietors of such plantation
      2. Millers and other manufacturers of coconut products.
    2. Determination of the qualification, forms and conditions, procedure and annual fees payable for such registration, and the removal forms or restoration to the register any name

  1. Engaging in and the regulation control, supervision, direction, management and inspection of the cultivation and utilization of land in coconut plantations and the cultivation of land with coconut

  2. Engaging in and the regulation, control supervision, direction, management and inspection of the manufacture, packing, storing, transport and sale of coconut products

  3. Inspection, supervision, regulation and control of factories, stores, yards, buildings, premises, equipment and machinery used or intended to be used for the manufacture, packing or storing of coconut products.

Objectives:

  • To assist entire coconut grower community by way of knowledge, information, they seek to raise productivity of their land and fulfill their development aspirations by way of knowledge. Target to reach .............. coconut growers and reach the level of 3000 Mn nuts annual production and sustain at this level in the next 3 years.

  • Grow coconut in lands which go out of production due to senility and in new suitable lands to ensure a coconut plantation of 1 mn. acres (7000Ha.) providing assistance.

  • Promote/assist coconut growers to grow other crops with coconut in their lands as a multicrop to raise the level of productivity and land use in coconut lands.
